Annual Hydrant Flushing:
The City of Berea fire hydrant flushing program typically begins in mid April and lasts for approximately 30 working days. Fire hydrants are flushed between the hours of 11:00 pm till 7:00 am, Sunday thru Thursday. Flushing the city’s fire hydrant system in off hours is an effective way to help alleviate dirty water problems that can occur.
Signage will be posted at the neighborhood entrances for notification of when flushing in your area will begin.
In addition to exercising the fire hydrants to ensure proper operation, we will also be flushing water mains to remove any buildup of sediment which may have occurred over the past year. During the flushing there may be some discoloration, therefore, we ask that you do not use your water during these hours unless absolutely necessary. If you do notice any discoloration, let your cold water run At the lowest point of your home for approximately 10 to 15 minutes. If you should encounter any flow restriction after the flushing, please remove and clean all screens and aerators in water faucets. If water dose not clear please call the Water Treatment plant 440-234-5652 water quality control.
