Message from Mayor Kleem

We’ve always been proud that Berea is family-friendly, but it’s business-friendly, too.

Our economic development staff works hard to keep Berea businesses here and to attract new ones.

Most recently, ColorMatrix, with approximately 90 employees, signed an extension to a business grant program that will enable the company to remain at its location on North Rocky River Drive. As part of the agreement, Berea will rebate to ColorMatrix a portion of its payroll taxes paid to the Regional Income Tax Agency (RITA). ColorMatrix will be required to maintain a payroll of at least $1 million.  As a result of the grant extension, ColorMatrix signed a 10-year lease on the site with the landlord agreeing to facility upgrades.

Also staying in Berea is the Above the Barre gymnastics studio. Looking to expand, Susan Barr, owner of Above the Barre, has broken ground on a new, larger facility on the Berea Industrial Parkway. City Council has approved a tax abatement program for the project.

Kidforce Collectibles moved to a larger location on Front Street. Family Eye Care has moved into a new building on High Street near CVS.

Berea also is proud to welcome the Allstate Insurance Office and the Campus Grille, which jointly re-purposed the former Pizza King location. Lake City Tavern has opened in the North End. Other businesses also plan moves into Berea in the coming months and we will announce those as they are confirmed.

Berea offers several programs to attract new entrepreneurs and to retain long-time businesses to our town. Contact Matt Madzy at or call (440) 826-5803 for more information.
