Forestry
As in any municipality our urban forest can be a huge asset to the community. Our ongoing street tree maintenance and care help us Preserve, protect, and replenish our urban canopy as best as is possible. Once a year, either in the spring or fall, new street trees are planted in needed areas of the City. Our appointed Shade Tree Commission makes these selections. A new planting system is being designed and will utilize a route based system to ensure better coverage of all areas of Berea.
The Shade Tree Commission was established in March of 1981. Pertinent information concerning the operation of the Shade Tree Commission and relative to planting and removal of trees can be found in Codified Ordinance 327.03 thru 327.21) Shade Tree commission meetings are held on an as need basis.
