All contractors and sub-contractors doing work within the City of Berea must be registered with the City.
In order to register, a contractor must:
- Complete a Contractor 2013 Registration Form or 2014 Registration Form;
- Complete a RITA Tax Form;
- Provide proof of insurance with the City of Berea named as an additional insured; and
- Pay a $125 fee.
Electrical, plumbing, and HVAC contractors must also provide a copy of their state license when registering.
The City of Berea does not require a bond to register as a contractor.
Registration is valid from January 1st of each year until December 31st of each year. Contractors working on a project that spans from one year to the next will have to register for both years. The City of Berea does not prorate the $125 fee.
Upon request and for informational purposes only, the Building Department can provide property owners with a list of contractors who meet the registration requirements for the City of Berea and who are registered to work in the city for the current year. Although neither the Building Department nor the City of Berea recommends contractors, the list of registered contractors can be a great help to property owners when choosing a contractor for their project.
