Berea Police Officiers Receive Awards

On January 26, the Berea Police Department was recognized by the Cuyahoga County OVI Task Force. The Cuyahoga County OVI Task Force is a multi-jurisdictional coalition of 45 law enforcement agencies dedicated to making Northeast Ohio roads safer for all of us.

Patrol Officer Adam Laeng and Patrol Officer Justin Carey are the department representatives for the OVI Task Force and Sgt. Patrick Greenhill is the representative for the Safe Kids Coalition. The Berea Police Department was recognized for “Exemplary Service to the OVI Task Force” for their enforcement efforts.

The Department was also recognized for the “Most Traffic Safety Outreach to Teen Drivers” for their public education efforts on distracted and impaired driving with teenagers. Patrol Officer Carey was recognized for two awards. Ptl. Carey won an award for “Cuyahoga County OVI Task Force’s Top Cop for OVI Arrests”. He placed 2nd for OVI Arrests in the County for a non-state patrol officer. In addition, he earned recognition as “Cuyahoga County OVI Task Force’s Top Cop Award for Seat Belt Enforcement.” Thank you to Ptl. Carey for his dedication to keeping our Berea community safe and to the entire Police Department for their education and public safety efforts.
