Ride Along Program

The Berea Police Department offers interested individuals the opportunity to accompany a police officer in the field to observe the patrol activities of the City of Berea. This program is offered to better familiarize citizens and students to the law enforcement function, and to allow students considering a career in law enforcement to better inform themselves on their personal career options. To participate in the program you must either be a Berea resident or be sponsored by a Berea Police Officer.

Applying for the Ride Along Program

All Ride-Along participants will have a background check performed by the Berea Police Department prior to being assigned to a police officer. Those individuals who do not pass the background check will not be eligible to participate in the Ride-Along Program. We encourage all individuals submitting an employment application with the Berea Police Department to schedule a Ride-Along prior to the start of their hiring process.

All Ride-Along participants will need to fill out and sign the Ride-Along Program Application (PDF) along with the ”Release and Hold Harmless Agreement Form," which is available at the Berea Police Department and downloadable on this website. Participants under the age of 18 will need a guardian or parent to sign the “Release and Hold Harmless Agreement” form.

If you are interested in participating in the Berea Police Ride-Along Program and have any additional questions, please contact Lieutenant Krouse at 440-826-5870 between the hours of 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information view the Ride Along Program Application (PDF).
